Harbour Trust MAT

Pre-School

also known as the Foundation Stage Unit (FSU)

We welcome children from aged 2 to 5 everyday of the week. Our Early Year's team closely follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to provide a range of activities linked to each child’s interests and next steps.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment to enable children to have the confidence to question, clarify and share their thinking. Communication and language is the heart of our day to day learning; through songs, rhymes, stories and conversations, we set high expectations for vocabulary and knowledge.

We have a large, covered outdoor area, and we are lucky enough to have a Forest School site just behind our classroom. We have waterproof all-in-one puddle suits for every child, so the weather won’t stop us!

We recommend arranging an appointment to visit and look around in the first instance, followed by a ‘settling in’ session.
To find out more please contact the school on 01271 890 440 or email georgeham@thsp.org.uk.

Our FSU is open every day during term time, following the school’s opening hours of 8.45am to 3.15pm.

A full day is 6.5 hours, and attending five full days totals 32.5 hours per week.

We can usually accommodate a wide range of attendance patterns, as long as they fit within required staff‑to‑child ratios, which vary depending on age. Our numbers typically increase as the year progresses and more children turn three and become eligible for the universal 15 funded hours.

If you’d like to discuss availability or specific requirements, please ring the school and we’ll be happy to help.

For information about Early Years funding please visit the child care choices website Best Start in Life - Best Start in Life - it will help work out what funds you may be eligible for.
